What Does Lyme Disease Look Like? Learn About the Signs and Symptoms

When it comes to Lyme Disease, the signs and symptoms can vary.  Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that can cause several unpleasant symptoms. These include fever, fatigue, headache, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic rash known as erythema migraines. Chronic, widespread pain was another symptom many deal with, including me.

If left untreated, the illness can cause more serious problems such as arthritis and neurological symptoms like Bell’s palsy or memory problems. It is important to seek medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms in order to receive an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Symptoms typically appear within 3-30 days after the tick bite, but they can take up to several months to manifest.  For, me it took a couple of years to start showing symptoms.  The symptoms I experienced first were mental health issues and digestive issues. Swelling in my joints and spinning thoughts.

It is also important to note that patients may be infected with other bacteria in addition to Borrelia burgdorferi, called co-infections, which can lead to further complications including fever and muscle aches, wild mood swings, night sweats, and so much more!

I definitely was experiencing something called Lyme Rage which is typically associated with the co-infection Bartonella.

So many of the symptoms look like symptoms of other conditions.  That is why Lyme is often called the great imitator.  It can get misdiagnosed as Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, MS, Bells Palsy, and so much more.

It can often get misdiagnosed as a psychiatric condition as well. I was diagnosed with bipolar, depression, and anxiety.  None of these were true conditions for me, they were symptoms of brain inflammation caused by Lyme, Mold, Cavitations, Heavy Metals, Parasites, and early childhood trauma.
